How to leverage social media to engage with your ideal customers and grow your business

Do you want to attract your ideal customer through social media?

Over the last five weeks we talked about the ‘power of five’ in social media and how you can use them in your Art and Design business. We also  discussed the pros and cons of each network.

We looked at Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn. Each network has its own unique features. The reality is, there is no one social network  that will fully fulfil your social and business needs.

Can any network match LinkedIn when it comes to business network connections? Or match Twitter when it comes to short instant and fast communications? What about Facebook? Can you find a social network that can bring our world together by connecting with people all over the globe?

So how do you choose and leverage your social network?

There are so many out there and you need to invest time to make it worthwhile too.

Now, if you’re like me, you’re looking to choose your social media activities wisely, without getting consumed by all the options. You simply want to know what works best for you and your audience.

So, before you embark into the social media world, here are some of tips that will help you select suitable networks for you to leverage into your business.
  •  Learn about your ideal customers
  •  Understand what they like and the type of social network they use regularly.
  •  Learn all the social networks, understand the pros & cons, and the unique features.
  • Match the social network to your ideal customers.
  • Define your real purpose for engaging in social networks.
  •  Set your social media goals and parameters.
  • Allocate time to connect, one to two hours daily is ideal.
  • Be careful of over investing your time as social networks could distract you from doing important things and you’ll wonder what happen to your time. You’ll have lots of fun connecting but may achieved little… So what is your purpose?
The fact is, not all your clients use the same social networks. This is why most business owners will embrace a variety of social media sites that each offer unique tools of connecting, sharing and so much more. Learn well about your ideal customers and invite them to your business by selecting the social networks that will help you to talk to them directly.

By selecting the right networks you will able to talk to your previously unreachable ideal clients and prospects directly. This means you are getting greater exposure, building your brand, increasing traffic to your business, producing better insights and enhancing search rankings and it virtually costs you nothing (except time). This is what we call the power of social media. The key is you need to learn how to leverage it in your Art and Design business.

Also, don’t try to be like everyone. Don’t join a network just because it’s popular and everyone you know is using it. You need to understand it and why you want to use it for your business. Focus on the networks that help you connect with your customers and fans. Focus on the networks that will help you grow your business and generate new leads.

And given today’s economy, who doesn’t want to connecting with customers and generate more business?
