3MD – Adopt the “3 Must Do” in your Art & Design Practice.

At ArtSHINE we’re always finding ways to improve our daily productivity. First we try new ways of doing things, and then we adopt the new concepts once they’ve been tested and measured. Once they’ve proved useful and effective we’ll then introduce the concept to our coaching clients. The OPIC Diary Planner is one of those tools. It’s a business tool we’ve introduced to our coaching clients to improve their day to day productivity thus helping them to achieve their goals and dreams.

Planning your goals is one step to being productive. But how many people are failing to achieve their goals everyday simply because they don’t have a planning system in place? Setting goals is easy, but implementing the goals is challenging.  Especially if you don’t use a planner at all.

In today’s post we’re sharing an interesting way to approach productivity in your Art and Design practice – we call it ‘3MD.’ Adopt the ‘3 Must Do’ list, and do those three things first.

Identify the 3MDs:

  1. Year
Start big picture with the ‘3 Must Do’ goals you want to achieve during the year. I know you have more than three things you want to achieve, but all we ask is that out of all those goal you have for the year, you get clear on, and identify, the top three. These become your ‘3 Must Dos’. These ‘3 Must Do’ goals must give you extraordinary feeling of success, feeling good about yourself, it has a sense of fulfilment, satisfaction and most importantly make you a happy person when you achieved them. These goals must have purpose for you and your business. For example, your goals on three areas; Business, Lifestyle,  and Personal.

  2. Month

Once you have your yearly goal worked out, you can assign those goals into the monthly planner, then identify the 3 goals you must achieve for the month. To help you achieve very specific goals, there are three key areas that you’ll need to focus on each month:

  • Working IN
  • Working ON
  • Working ABOVE

From the three areas, Identify your 3 monthly goals from each area. If you focus on this 3 areas each month you will reach you goal faster and your business and personal will transform to where you want too be.

  1. Week
Now think about the ‘3 Must Do’ tasks you want to achieve during the week. On the Friday of each week you can start to plan your coming week. That way, when the week begins you can use your plan to help you get clear about your daily activities. Do a quick check on what tasks are to be achieved in the week, triage your activities, and identify the three tasks you want to complete.

  2. Day
Each morning set your ‘3 Must Do’ tasks for the day. The key to this system is doing these three tasks, the 3MDs FIRST. Do them first and do them early. Yes, you’ll have other things you need to do in the day, but by getting really clear on the tasks and activities that take you closer to your goals, and by taking small actions EACH AND EVERY day, you’ll find you get so much more done.

The ‘3 Must Do’ tasks are critical to your success.

Always keep your 3MDs in your schedule, and do them first. Any other tasks on your lists (after these top 3) can fit around and between your ‘3 Must Do’ tasks. Do them when you have extra time, or when time allows.
