It’s no secret that we all crave perfection when it comes to our bodies. However, many of us don’t know how to achieve it. Losing weight is easy – eat healthily and exercise, but toning up is a whole other ball game. It’s easy to think that if you do cardiovascular exercise while you diet you’ll instantly tone up, but sadly, that’s not the case.

Don’t stop eating

When it comes to toning up, many people make the mistake of stopping eating. The lack of calories will only cause you to burn muscle – it won’t help you to tone up. If you stop eating, your body won’t have the energy it needs for your metabolism to run properly, slowing down how quickly your body burns fat.

It’s important to ensure that you’re getting a much high-quality food into your body as possible, as this will give you the energy you need to tone up. Foods high in protein, such as lean meats and beans and pulses, are great, as are fresh fruits and vegetables.

Drink lots of water

Did you know that your muscles are 70 to 80 percent water? If you aren’t drinking enough – six to eight glasses of water per day, your muscles will start to break down. This isn’t good when it comes to toning up, as it’s muscles that you need to build up, to tone.

If you want to make toning up as easy for yourself as possible, it’s imperative that you drink plenty of water. It doesn’t have to be plain water, any drink that contains water helps, from tea to fruit infused water. Obviously, pure water is best but if you’re not a fan, water flavoured with cordial can work just as well.

Use Pilates to strengthen and tone

When it comes to toning up, many people make the mistake of thinking that weights are the only option. However, that’s not actually the case. Meditational exercise, like Pilates, is fantastic for strengthening your core muscles and toning up.

Because there are a lot of poses that you are required to hold while tightening various muscles, Pilates and toning go hand in hand. It’s not a quick fix by any means, but with perseverance and regular Pilates, you can tone up your body within a few weeks.

Give interval training a try

As well as using Pilates to tone up, interval training is also worth a try. If you’re someone who’s crazy about cardio, interval training is a good option. This will help to ensure that you’re not overdoing it and burning muscle while trying to tone up.

You can do interval training alone – there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube, or you can join a class. If you’re not confident about doing it alone, a class is probably the best option, at least, to start off with.

If you want to tone up once and for all and get your body into amazing shape, take these tips on board.

  • I have been doing the Ketogenic diet for almost 3 years now and I can say that I have lost weight healthily, but I still want to tone up my abs before my wedding and my honeymoon.
