Worried About the Security of Your Headquarters? These Measures Will Put Your Mind at Ease

So, you want to make your business’s headquarters a little more secure? That sounds like a reasonable enough demand. Businesses are always targets for thieves and criminals, and it’s not hard to see why. Businesses have large amounts of modern technology, they often store money, and they also have customer details. All of these things can be attractive and useful to criminals if accessed and used in the right way. Here are some security measures to put your mind at ease.

Add a Perimeter Fence

Sometimes, the old methods of security are the best ones. If you want to stop people getting to your business’s headquarters when it’s vulnerable, such as at night, then put up a fence. This will make it very difficult, if not impossible, for people to approach the headquarters and gain access to it. Your business will be much more vulnerable if there is no physical barrier between it and people who might be trying to get in. You can contact fencing contractors easily enough if you want to install something like this. Choose a material and a fence design that deters intrusion. That’s what’s most important.

Install Security Lights

Many of the things you can do to bolster the security of your headquarters are about deterring criminals. Installing security lights around your business’s headquarters can do that. They are there to stop criminals approaching the building at night. When they have a beaming light shining down on them, they will be much less likely to attempt a break-in. So, you should definitely install them as soon as you can. They can be triggered by motion sensors, meaning that they won’t use up much of your energy, which can be a concern for some people.

Limit Access More Tightly

When you’re in control of who is coming in and going out of your business, you are in control of a lot. This is something that many businesses still don’t do. You can walk in and walk out without anyone batting an eyelid. That’s not a safe situation for your business and its employees to be in though. So, install doors that only let people with the right passcode or swipe card inside. This allows you to ensure that only authorised personnel can come in. Any visitors should be signed in and out carefully. And the reception area should never be left unattended when a visitors is present.

Handle Data and Sensitive Info Carefully

The data you handle is just as desirable as the money you store. So, you should think very carefully about how you use documents, both on paper and on your computers. For a start, you should use encryption methods whenever you are transporting data from one place to another. And if you are using paper documents with sensitive information on them, they should be shredded immediately after use. Leaving these documents lying around can be very dangerous. You should also have a strong firewall in place to ensure that hacks are not possible.
