Get Out Of Your Creative Slump

No one likes to be sat in front of a blank screen for hours with no inspiration and no ideas whatsoever, however the sad fact is that we can end up doing this far for often than we wish we did. If you are at work and you are starting to face a real creative slump, here are some of our top tips to help make sure that you can get back on track as soon as you can.

Take a break

Don’t let yourself sit in front of your desk for hours on end with no ideas and no inspiration. By sitting in front of your work you are not helping yourself to gain a creative spark and you will only end up stressing yourself out so much more by trying to do this. Instead, think about taking a break from the work for a little while and doing something else. Sometimes the brain simply needs to refresh and recalibrate and it will be back in full action in no time. This can be a huge help for you and allow you to get back to your work with a fresh mind.

Speak to a fresh face

If you are really struggling with your work and you need to find some new perspective on the piece, it might be worth sharing your project with another member of staff and seeing if their perspective will help give you the inspiration and ideas you need to succeed. Sometimes a new face can be exactly what you need and an unbiased mind will be able to bring a whole new perspective to your work and give you a new idea.

Ask a professional

If in doubt, get a professional to help you figure it out. Let’s say for example you are looking for a new way to market your business and you can’t decide where to start or how to get your voice heard. In this instance you can hire a digital marketing agency and work with them to come up with new ways to make an impression online in the wider world. Sometimes a professional can let you in on secrets and show you ways of working which you never knew existed before.

Find inspiration elsewhere

It can be hard to find a spark of inspiration when you are working with a brain which is worn out and stale, and when this happens you are best of finding inspiration in the world around you and beyond. For example you could think about looking on Pinterest if you are an artist and you have no idea what to paint for your customers. You can read a book by your favourite author if you are stuck with your own novel… drawing ideas from others in your field can be exactly what you need to set the wheels in motion for an amazing idea. Just sit down and relax and let your ideas flow naturally through your mind and into your work. You will be absolutely fine in the end.
