Certification in construction is one of the main stages in the transformation of a set of building materials into a comfortable, safe and cosy room suitable for life and work, be it a residential building, office, industrial building or a modern shopping centre.

Erecting a building means laying the foundation, assembling prefabricated concrete and reinforced concrete structures, arranging coverings, roofing, making window and door openings, and applying internal engineering systems. All of these and many other types of construction work must be certified. The construction certificate is most essential there.

What is the basis for Certification?

The Certification of construction works is understood as the establishment by an independent accredited body of the fact that the construction, construction and installation or other works performed to comply with the requirements of regulatory documents.

In connection with the new policy of compliance with state standards, the confirmation procedures for construction services and materials were changed in September 2015. Most items came into force on 03/11/2016. The list of building materials subject to Certification has been significantly revised.

Construction certification

The changes affected the number of positions – out of 213 posts of building materials, 27 remained.

The previously widespread form of assessment – declaration – has been excluded from 2009/013 / BY technical regulations.

The list structure has been changed about the division of products by forms of quality confirmation. The critical point was the availability of developed standards – if they are developed, Certification is applied. If not – they use an assessment of technical suitability with the subsequent declaration.

Technical conditions are required if the characteristics of the products differ from those stated in the standard or there is no standard for this product.

It is also possible to voluntarily certify only those products, the requirements for which are established by the current standards.

Significance and relevance of Certification of construction works

The peculiarities of the construction industry require contractors to comply with all current state requirements regarding the technology for performing work. A certificate in construction is not just a document but a weighty confirmation of the qualifications and experience of an organization, a reason to entrust it with the construction of critical facilities.

The Certification provides essential safety requirements:

  • Construction certification
  • Mechanical strength of structures;
  • Fire safety;
  • Sanitation, hygiene of human conditions of stay,
  • Environmental protection;
  • Noise insulation and vibration protection;
  • Operational safety;
  • Energy efficiency.

The construction industry is experiencing a complex of negative influences – economic, political, social, physical, natural and climatic. The terrorist threat has grown, the stability and vulnerability of industrial and energy facilities are being tested. New sources of seismic activity and global warming are making themselves felt.

The safety of industrial and socially significant buildings, sports and cultural facilities can be ensured by a qualified comprehensive check of stability in case of danger, adaptation to changed environmental conditions, the ability to restore functioning regardless of the intensity and duration of hazardous exposure. The choices are perfect in this case.
